Web Page

Firstly I tried the ever so famous, “wix.xom” but sadly the overwhelming choices left me indecisive and lost contributing to a major time waste. On the left hand side you can see the amount of text options for a single block under a certain template, Not even considering the font, text color, etc.

Secondly I experimented with blogger, only to get restricted by the provided templates for the theme and other discrepancies. With very limited themes and a very subtle representation as seen below it hadn’t conveyed a truly vibrant and intuitive as I would have wanted it to be. As you can see it is very plain.

Then I tried WordPress , and right of the bat the difference is clear, you are provided with tools and control that allows for maximum versatility. AS you can see it provides the perfect mix between the 2, where as it isn’t as plain with imagery and options on the right hand side, but stile keeping it minimal and not overwhelming the readers.

First off I would like to highlight my enthusiasm towards this course and learning new means of communication. I started by trying “Wix.com” as a very well marketed platform with ads everywhere I figured it would be a good candidate towards the creation of this academic blog. After signing up and overwhelming amount of options attack. Although this may seem very versatile but when creating something structured too much customization is a big distraction and time waster. I then tried their built in website creator feature, it provided a good skeleton however it wasn’t even remotely related to what I was trying to do. The amount of options left me stranded and indecisive. Therefore I opt to try another platform, respectively. I then moved on to try “blogger.com” a well known blogging platform that i had minor experience with. It was overall a good experience however the lack of customization and backgrounds made me feel more limited than i would have liked. It was feeding on the more expressive part of communication technology. And for that reason i decided to move and and try “WordPress.com” knowing that 30% of the internet was built on it made feel encourage to delve deeper into what its about. And after experimenting with it while creating a home page adding my own background while still maintaining a pristine antithetic was simply the reason why I made the decision to continue using it. And after writing this i can easily sense why 30% of the internet was created using this platform, its simple, easy to use, while maintaining a professional website look. Throughout creating the website i was able to easily add an externally edited photo collage, without specific dimensions. Which highlights more on the effortless experience “WordPress.com” is able to provide.
