The Exposure Triangle

#4 – 3/2/2020

#5 – 4/2/2020 – continued

#1 #2 #3

#1 – In the first image we explore natural lighting without any control. No shutter speed adjustment or ISO adjustment by any means. Therefore shadows clearly almost overtake the whole image, with crescents of sunlight forming on the cheeks of most of the subjects. However the image is in perfect focus with the background blurred to give more effect. The colors in the image also face some distortion when it comes to the hair even reflecting back the sunlight due to the high and uncontrolled exposure. Not too much or too little white light is available, clearly there is a huge light imbalance causing many different aspects of the image to seem somewhat different from its actual appearance.

#2 – In the second image less shadows are seen however they are not completely gone. On the other hand the colors become more vivid with less reflection seen throughout. This image was taken under contour light mode in the iPhone almost fixing a lot of the discrepancies witnessed in image 1. The image however is over exposed the sun seems to be to strong and the fixed shutter speed doesn’t help to fix that issue. Focus is still on point while giving the image a crisp effect.

#3 – The last image was taken using the studio light option in the iPhone. It is known for decreasing the ISO in my situation of over exposure to balance the light and create a perfect depiction of equilibrium. No shadows are visible adding more value and texture to the subjects. Colors are on point complements of the perfected exposure. Focus is also an important factor that is also refined in this particular image. Crescents are barley visible contributing to the definitions in the skin tone of the subjects. The light in this image is the main contributor to its secret flair that is able to keep the photo true to real life while also evading all the blemishes of photography.
